If I could give Walt 10 stars, I absolutely would! He was an exceptional instructor who provided valuable insights into defense tactics, proper handgun grip, and an in-depth understanding of various laws and penal codes. Walt prioritized safety above all else, ensuring both his and our well-being while creating a comfortable and secure environment throughout the entire training session.

Had an amazing time and learned an incredible amount of valuable skills. A ten hour class felt like just a couple hours and every minute was engaging. Definitely recommend moving forward with Walt's classes to anyone considering them!

Walt is a world class instructor. Very patient and thorough. He made sure I had a very clear mental understanding of my task and followed up to ensure I was physically capable to execute it. I feel a lot more confident in my abilities after my training with Mr. Mayfield.

Tobey McGuire was bit by a spider, but for Walt, it was a goat. Want your Level 3, or any other firearm instruction, this man will instill hope! (this all happens at a range, obvious not at this location).

okay got your attention with some rhymes, check this story out.

He does it all, but also as the new year, you need your MMPI, he can help you connect with one, for a very affordable rate! This man takes personal interest in every single student. I was running, exactly on time, worked the night before.

He called me 5 minutes to ensure I knew where to go. GPS said I was 3 min away. If you fall asleep during lunch, he's gonna go look for ya. He's that kind of man. Okay enough about the man, what about the class?

*Everything you are about to read is true, and it has been a wild ride.*

End May - Decided was going for Level 3, did the online portion, was referred to Walt, pretty far away.

First, my shooting experience. I have been drilling daily with a hi-point 9mm I bought in college but just left around. Prior to last week of may, really had not been shooting.

Early July. Contacted Walt, asked if how the test was going to be, because I have been told a lot of different things. Long story short, recommended me do a 1 on 1 with someone. So I did. (Thanks Chandler @ TGE!) to prep a week before. Shot with a rental.

Come next week, it's qual/def training day! And I drag my aging bones to the class knowing it's gonna be a long day. It won't feel long. Trust me. I've been in a lot of classrooms (I mean we all went to school). You know when you have a good instructor that's passionate and doesn't just do it for the money alone.

I am not lying when I say I scored 95%. Yeah I was nervous, but it's because it was a test. I just test badly. I fully expected to fail it, and retry and ace it the second (how it always seems to be with any test I took in school, test anxiety).

And oops! So tunnel vision, I forgot to rack the slide back on the first round! (test anxiety!) Walt just reminded me to breathe, don't be nervous, that was enough.

Note I used the range rental, I can load a mag, but have difficulty with the ones they lent me, but Walt had a speed loader on hand, and showed me how to use one. I'm used to the wonderful 8 round magazines provided by the hi point corporation, not an actual fire arm ?.

Come August, and I'm just browsing indeed. But they all say "x years experience". Don't let that stop you. Just call up the company and ask (why don't people do that anymore?). They told me come on down, and within a week I am working the best job I've had. A dream job I never thought in eons would be possible.

The things he taught me in the class, made it basically possible to miss the first day or training for my job (as I was late to it), the 2nd day, was more baton stuff that Walt does go over. You will be prepared for a level 3 armed job if you go through Walt.

What you may not be prepared is how fast it happens!

Thank you Walt!

(I gotta upload some pics of the range, gear, etc).

In short:

Man's a GOAT, built like a goat now (he's proud of that one, I am to my dude, I was a much bigger dude at one point too, so I get it, you wanna brag! ?

He don't need Tobey MacGuire Spider Powers, bc he is the goat. And if you take his courses, you can instill hope.

Walt is the perfect instructor regardless of your comfort level/experience with firearms. If you’ve been hesitating, don’t wait one more second to sign up for any of his programs. Before attending his Women’s Defense Training class, I was terrified to operate my own hand gun. I froze up in class and found myself hesitating the pull the trigger. Walt’s patience was limitless and he knew the right way to gently and effectively help me overcome my fear. By the end of class, I felt infinitely more confident in my ability to safely operate my gun. Walt did a fantastic job of talking about real-world situations and keeping class light and positive. He gave great tips to moms on storage with kids in the house and was able to optimize his teachings for a class with various levels of experience. Was really neat to have his daughter there helping with the class as well. Looking forward to taking more lessons from him.

Walt is awesome. He gives a lot of information in a 10 hour window. He made the class as fun as he could and even at the 9.5 hour mark in the class everyone was still engaged! It is a long day, but it goes by quick.

Walt was an awesome instructor! We did the women’s self defense class and he was knowledgeable, patient, and put the whole class at ease. I appreciate how relatable he made the content. I walked away feeling more confident!

Went to Walt for my level 3 like so many others here and I %100 understand why so many go to him. He's an excellent teacher and he offers so much for you to learn. For the shooting, even though I was with other people and that always can present an unknown for safety on the range, he gave perfect instructions and made it a safe good time for everyone. I am very happy I made my trip out to him for this class!
