Disappointing Stay and Insulting Compensation

Our recent stay at The Ritz-Carlton was a complete disappointment. Despite paying $1,000 per night, both the food and service were far below acceptable standards. The Japanese restaurant, which claims to be Michelin-starred, was no better than a generic sushi spot. Adding to the frustration, I was served coffee in a dirty, chipped mug—completely unacceptable for a luxury property.

The service was equally appalling. It was clear that much of the staff had been recently hired and lacked proper training or experience. This resulted in slow, inattentive, and unprofessional service throughout our stay, which is far from what one would expect from The Ritz-Carlton.

When I emailed to request a refund for my next stay, I was offered free parking instead. This was a completely inadequate response, especially since my wife and I cannot enjoy the food or service at this property and would be forced to dine elsewhere. Free parking does not begin to address the inconvenience and disappointment we experienced.

As a Titanium Elite member, I’ve come to expect excellence from Marriott properties, but this stay has left me questioning the brand’s commitment to quality. I will be filing a formal complaint with Marriott and strongly advise others to avoid this property until significant improvements are made.

The Ritz never disappoints and this location more than lives up to that. Rooms are great, comfortable, newly decorated, outstanding mattresses and spotless. The people that work there are outstanding.....friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and go out of their way to accommodate you. The restaurant we ate at the most was in the hotel, Wyld, and the meals we ate there were some of the best we've had in years. The level of service is great. The spa is something you should visit, really outstanding and the daily guided hikes are something you don't want to miss. Looking forward to our next visit!!

What a beautiful place! So much unique charm and ambience. From the rooms to the common areas in front of the huge fireplace or outdoors where they give you smores ingredients nightly!
The service and the little touches to make you feel special are always there.
You wouldn’t know it from the outside, or even inside, that way down below there is a grotto with heated water and several plunge pools and saunas.

My wife and I aren’t even skiers, but we hiked the snow covered trails with a guide (that comes with the resort fee). I did it twice in 3 days!

Shout out to Carla at the bar who gave us great advice, Ajay our breakfast server who was kind and would make sure we’re satisfied, Jesse the new concierge, and Adam and Betty as our hike guides.

We love it here, and we came back same time as 2 years ago for our anniversary. We’ll be back, 100% no doubt.

(And if you want to go off property, Vail is only 15 mins away).

I have stayed at this property before and I know why I return. This time with my family for a perfect week of enjoyment. Everyone friendly, quality superior. Used Chris from the photo concierge and now have memories for a lifetime. All the restaurants have a wonderful selection and the property is very clean and well cared for. The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch never disappoints. We will be back!

The Ritz in Avon is definitely a Colorado classic worth seeing . This was our second time visiting this magnificent property . It is situated in the mountains with spectacular views . The staff is excellent and very friendly . The property is well kept. The lobby is an example of what a Colorado living room would look like - cozy , rustic and chic . |You can literally walk out of the outside area and hike straight up the mountain . Bring water and a rain poncho for our normal Colorado weather . We live in Denver, so it is a quick trip for us . The gym is awesome and spa is beautiful. My gym rat of a husband said that it was one of the best hotel gyms - and he travels all over the world .||Areas for improvement:|1) more lunch menu options -healthier foods |2) breakfast buffet could use a little expanding - more salads and protein shakes |3) Better hiking maps ||Overall a lovely get away

I have stayed in many Ritz Carlton‘s before, and I believe the housekeeping/maintenance did not live up to the standards. Our curtains were ripped both inside and blackout curtains. There were stains on the carpet. There were chips all around the bathroom mirrors and the bathroom doors were dusty and needed washed down . I understand they were getting ready for season however the hotel was not too full Capacity, not even close they could have checked the room and put us in one that was Ritz Carlton perfection.
