Pros and cons equal at this property. The staff was friendly and efficient. Price point is fair given the quality of the hotel. Rooms are well appointed, large and clean. Lobby, bar area, workout room and laundry are all nicely furnished and clean. We stayed here as we had medical services at nearby Duke. Springhill did offer a free shuttle to and from the hospital, which was appreciated. This hotel skirts the downtown area in a spot that looks like they are trying to revitalize. There are newer apartments around and a few decent restaurants you can walk to although I am not sure I was recommend walking in the area after dark. Nobody in these reviews mentioned the train, with a track that could be seen from our window. In the late evening hours and often in the early morning we were awakened by the train horn as it plowed through at high speed. As mentioned by others, the room servicing is done every other day. Housekeeping should provide extra towels and other amenities as we often had to find a cart in the hall to get something we needed or go down to ask at the desk. The breakfast was typical for this chain, although only available until 9 am on weekdays. Many times we scrambled to get downstairs before 9 am as the staff is swift to close down this area promptly, even with guests still trying to fill plates or gather whatever is left before the door slides shut. On property parking is limited and the $15 fee seems unfair given that on some nights you may have to use the overflow lot across the street. Overall, the stay was comfortable although not sure if we would return to this location.

I stayed here for a week on business, in a long-term-stay king suite. My company was very kind to ensure my comfort, to say the least. It was also a short drive from my office and right off the highway; very convenient.
The room was a good size — spacious enough, and had a good furniture arrangement. Some additional drawers could have been useful, but I managed. The desk was a nice touch, with its own lights and electrical outlets. When I wasn’t using it as a desk, it doubled as my sitting area to eat.
It’s not really pictured here, but there is a sofa, for which the ottoman is for. A tray on top of the ottoman could have been used to eat on, or in my case, to be used to toss daily pocket items into. Please disregard the axolotl plush; it was a souvenir for my fiancée.
The bed was comfortable; it didn’t smell weird nor creak. I am a short person, so the bed was a good height to plop down in and roll out of.
The bathroom was immaculate. This is a major peeve of mine, and I was pleasantly greeted with a spotless throne to defecate upon. The shower was also clean and free of mildew, mold, or anything gross you wouldn’t want to step barefoot into.
There is a mini fridge, below the coffeemaker; there was no safe in my room, but I saw that I could have requested one (I chose not to).
Cleaning staff respected the door card indicating that I was either sleeping or didn’t want my room cleaned (the latter). I left it there all week and not a thing moved in my room indicating anyone entered while I was gone. Call me paranoid, but I am just not a fan of others being in my space. I can keep a room clean for a week.
My only real complaint? Parking. Plenty enough parking — but at a premium of $15 daily. What nonsense is that? It should come included with the room, especially a LTS. My company is an understanding bunch and did not object to reimbursing the parking charges, but as you can imagine, it was an expected amenity. Maybe it is just a foreign concept to me, but I have never had to pay for hotel parking as a guest in my entire life. Make your money, I guess.
All in all, this hotel was still one of the better ones I’ve stayed at; it is well-kept, in a great location, and the staff are polite. I would likely stay here again.

We booked a one night stay here as we were attending the Bulls baseball game and fireworks on July 4. It is a quick five-minute walk away from the stadium and a 5–10-minute walk from lots of shops and restaurants in downtown Durham. That said, it is in a relatively quiet location. You do have to pay $15 a day for parking but it is still better than other hotels downtown that only offer valet parking. The rates are reasonable and include breakfast in the morning. The rooms are big – we got one with two queen beds and a couch that converts into two single beds. There is a small bar fridge (which doesn’t even fit a small pizza box so come prepared with aluminum foil or Ziploc bags if you have leftovers to store) and a microwave. If we were staying longer, we would have preferred a hotel with a partial kitchen. The beds are comfortable. There are complimentary toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) in the shower. There is a big closet with plenty of room for suitcases. The staff were friendly and efficient.

The beds are very low to the ground, too low. No real door for the bathroom, and all these little lights, glowing light switches, lights are everywhere in these rooms. You have to pay to park which is uncool. Service was great. Room was clean, pillows are not comfortable.

Good quality rooms just be aware of the electrical timer when you first enter the room especially if you enter at night like we did. I will say we went down to get breakfast and it wasn’t ready and we were down 30 minutes after the said start time and we even waited an extra 15 minutes until we just went and got breakfast on the road to head to our next destination. The front desk was so helpful to me as I was traveling solo with my kids. When I needed to load the car in the morning they added assistance with my kids as they were waiting to grab something to eat. The rooms were nice and spacious I will say location is okay the parking lot is a little tight. I was parking a truck and have very little space on each side. I would recommend if you need a place to lay your head on a rod trip!

My review begins with Scion, the front desk worker. He was courteous, attentive, and precise. I felt heard, understood, and protected bc of him. Also this hotel is spotlessly clean. Evern Detail was looked out for tou,

I wanted to leave this hotel a good review to help balance out others complaining. I traveled with a group of 9 so we needed two 2 queen rooms with the extra "trundle" bed. Everything near Pinehurst was sold out and more expensive so we decided to stay near the airport. This hotel completely met my expectations. Nice newer rooms. Good shower. Great location if you're touring downtown Durham. Free breakfast for my family (eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, waffles, bagels, cereal, etc). Laundry facilities ($3 to wash, $2 to dry and there is a change machine). No pool. You do pay for parking (ours was $15).

We booked hotel for my wife and son for one night stay not knowing this location is not owned or managed by Marriott.
Terrible service and never had anyone not allowing my family check in with out my presence.
I filled authorization and we were told again to email my card number which is not safe.
