I highly recommend SJJA for both you and your child. This club is very family-friendly, and Ms. Nguyen is exceptionally patient with her students. I have never seen Ms. Nguyen become frustrated while teaching judo.

She manages younger students very well, likely due to her own experience as a mother. Beyond teaching judo, she also instills important life lessons, promoting good character, discipline, and respect among her students. Of course, Ms. Nguyen’s judo techniques are excellent as well.

After my daughter finished her TKD, we found SJ Judo Academy to continue with her training in March. All the Senseis are very warm and encouraging. They make sure the student know the basics and teach even small details and techniques they need to know, and practice what they need improve. Clean school; fun and kind people to train with. My daughter developed new skills and her stamina has improved. We look forward to see her and everyone progress.

We did a free trial class 2 weeks ago and afterward, my 8-year-old son wanted to join! Not only does he learn Judo and self-defense skills, he practices his agility and stamina via the warm up, drills, and games. He definitely gets in his cardio, and I’m happy that the time spent here is not time spent in front of a screen LOL. He interacts and socializes with the other kids similar in age, and the older kids are great mentors. The teacher-student ratio is great; I notice for the larger classes, there are more instructors. The instructors are experienced, patient, and do so well with the kids. I like to sit through the entire class but I would feel comfortable leaving the site and coming back to when class is over. We look forward to being part of this community for a long time!

We love SJJA - from the moment we walked through the doors, we were welcomed into a warm and supportive community. The coaching staff are great. They possess a unique blend of expertise, patience and genuine care for each child's development. It's evident that the coaches are passionate about instilling the values of judo both on and off the mat. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall positive experience. San Jose Judo Academy is a good judo class for everyone. It is open everyday with reasonable price. Instructors here are certified with USA judo sports. They are certified referees and coaches. I highly recommend this school for its safe, nice and clean facility: its professional teaching staffs and quality judo lessons everytime!

What I like the most about SJJA is the quality of their training discipline , especially the black belt. The SJJA rules and requirements are simple but you need to follow them strictly. You should attend your class regularly, train hard and master the grappling techniques in order to earn your black belt at this Judo Academy. If you just dropped by and practiced a couple times a month then you would never get your black belt, even if you have paid your monthly fees faithfully for years. They don’t sell it for your decoration.
I read news about Nancy Nguyen just got the Gold at The International Judo Championships in 3/2024, and I was not surprised at all. She is one of the elite instructors at SJJA.
I highly recommend SJJA!
