I have been searching for an instructor who teaches traditional kungfu for a while. I had the wonderful opportunity to get introduced to Richard and his Kung fu school! I've trained several years as a wing chun student under him and feel incredibly competent in my skills. I was the only female for a while but he never took it easy on me because he knew a real opponent wouldn't either. I greatly appreciate his respect in treating me as any other student. It is this reason, I can confidently say anyone searching for a Kung fu family and wanting to grow in their skills should earn their way to becoming a student here.

Sifu Verdugo isn't just a good teacher but a master. He knows Wing Chun down to the most fundamental level. With that level of experience he is able to explain it not just vocally but also with hands on experience so that you can commit it to muscle memory and make it your own. His blending of Praying Mantis and Bagua into his Wing Chun, is the most dynamic that I have come against.

I have trained in martial arts for most of my life since childhood. This has been under many Sifu and Sensei alike in Shoyru Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Kenpo, Kendo and of course Wing Chun. I knew myself as "Jack of all trades, master of none".

Sifu Verdugo has been able to point out bad habits i had ingrained over the years of my training to allow corrections to click in my brain. He has become my Kung Fu brother.

If you have the Chance to learn from scratch and starting out without bad habits, I strongly recommend Sifu Verdugo. You will be able to learn the right way and start with a strong foundation. He will be able to take you to the highest level, if that is where you want to go with it. Martial arts are what you put in and that's okay. If you're simply looking for something to give you a more entertaining and fun way to exercise and learn a new skill while you're at it than this is also a good way to accomplish it.

I started Wing Chun in 1991. I’ve trained in two different lineages and have also visited and trained at a few schools around the country. Some of those instructors were good, and some not so good. Sifu Richard Verdugo’s skills and knowledge exceed all who I’ve trained with in the past. We are so fortunate and lucky to have this high level quality of Wing Chun in this part of the country. This is my opinion, but the training seems to me a mixture of old school Kung Fu mixed with a modern, realistic approach to combat training. It can be pretty tough at times, and it certainly isn’t your typical ‘strip mall’ wing chun that I’ve seen before. This is the real deal. So if you want to train in a combat art that works you can’t go wrong with this school.
