Great service. It was our 1st time so we were not familiar with the menu. But we got all the support and insight that we needed from our server. We ended up having a wonderful time. The live music was also really good.

I was brought to Mastros on 11/17/24 for my birthday dinner. My fiancé made a reservation and specified it was a special occasion (my birthday)
Upon arrival at our 8:30 reservation we were not seated until 9:10pm so that wasn’t fun but we totally understood it was a busy night. We ordered out dinner which was tasty but nothing exceptional overall we spent about $400 were so bummed we didn’t even get a birthday dessert because my fiancé let the restaurant know in advance of the celebration. The server or host didn’t even say happy birthday either which kinda put a damper on the whole celebration.

Overall if you want to celebrate a special occasion i highly recommend elsewhere as they seem way too busy here.

I'm really, really disappointed. I never recommend this restaurant. I've been to Beverly's and had good memories, so I came to the Mastro's ocean club at downtown for my birthday, and I'm really disappointed.
1. There is no valet service and we have to pay $30 for self-parking.
2. There are not many servers (only 2) that work, so the servers are hectic.
3. So the water cup is always empty.
4. The food was burnt out.
We spent $510 but the foods and service were terrible!!
5. Wine or birthday cake corkage fees is $50!

We love Mastro’s but we frequent the Thousand Oaks location and we never had a problem there but since my mom moved to downtown LA, we figured the downtown location would be ok. Since my mom lived downtown, we’ve been to the downtown location 4-5 times and always said that the food was not as good as the Thousand Oaks location.

On May 9, 2024 we decided to go to the downtown location for my mom’s bday. When I made the reservation I also noted that we were celebrating a birthday but it was not acknowledged upon arrival or after our meal….any who, our waiter wasn’t too bad, it seemed like he had several other tables to tend to which I kind of understand. When our food came out, it tasted nothing like I remember. Honestly, everything was undercooked….macaroni was too watery underneath all the cheese, the mushrooms were too rubbery and for some reason they were large in size with just a few button mushrooms that tasted good but I don’t remember having huge mushrooms …the Brussel sprouts were still hard, not tender at all, everyone who had a steak said that is wasn’t all the great and my salmon was totally undercooked which turned me off because it was a strong fish smell. I sent it back to the kitchen and just ate a little bit of the sides. The only great thing we had that night was the butter cake, unfortunately. However, we waited almost 30 mins for that.

I do want to offer a suggestion, our reservation was for 5pm and the doors did not open until about 5:05 and we were left standing near the entrance for about 15 mins…my suggestion is, make sure doors open maybe 10 mins till 5pm and sit people immediately and don’t make them wait and stand. People are paying good money for Mastros and it’s a little rude to have people waiting like that. Also, upon being seated, maybe offer a bread basket, compliments of Mastros if the waiters need a little more time to get situated.

Came here for a graduation celebration. The waitress was Great!!! The food we ordered was Cold (Sea Bass) and Lamb Chops undercooked. They took plate back and cooked same meat again instead of giving a fresh plate. The Desserts were good.

For starters my food was not cooked how I asked for it, I asked for medium WELL and my steak is so red and BLEEDING horribly! My food was entirely cold to the point where my mashed potatoes were molded together in the same square as the box it came in. My asparagus is under cooked, very hard and crunchy! I am not pleased with my order AT ALL !!!! Here’s pictures of my horrible expensive food.

Shout out to the whole team and most especially our server Donovan for great and attentive service with a smile. Busy night and the order came out hot, delicious, and correct. The blueberry pork dish is worth a try. The live music Friday night set a great atmosphere.

My recent visit to Mastro’s in Downtown LA was marred by an incredibly disappointing experience, compelling me to share my thoughts and give this establishment a one-star review. Despite having a reservation for a party of six, my guests and I were subjected to an unreasonable wait time of over 45 minutes. The justification for this delay was that two members of our party were not present at the time of our reservation. What made this situation particularly frustrating was the visible emptiness of the restaurant, which contradicted any reason for not accommodating the rest of us.

This was my first encounter with such an issue at Mastro’s, a place I had come to enjoy for its service and ambiance. The refusal to seat us in a timely manner, despite the apparent lack of patrons, was bewildering and significantly impacted our dining experience. It’s important for future patrons to be aware of this potential inconvenience, as the policy does not seem to reflect the needs or respect the time of its customers.

Overall, the handling of our reservation left a lot to be desired, and it’s with regret that I find myself sharing this negative experience. The cornerstone of hospitality is understanding and accommodating your guests, something that was starkly missing from our visit. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the restaurant to improve its service and policies, ensuring that future guests do not encounter the same frustrations we did.

Beware party of 10 requires a contract to be signed, which doesn’t make any sense.
