We absolutely love this program. My son (age 12 now) has participated in several different martial arts programs over the years, and I've never seen him more committed and dedicated. There is a real sense of community and support here, not just personal excellence (which they also support very well). Barbera and Tim are a great team, and they inspire the best in all of us. They lead with kind, firm, and realistic goals for their students. When you join KSW of Oak Hill, you join a family of people working to improve themselves and the lives of those around them.

I took a Kung Fu class over the summer at another martial arts school, but I truly loved the women's self-defense class at Kuk Sool Won. The female instructors were exceptional at helping us cultivate the intention to defend ourselves, which is a crucial aspect of self-defense. They understood that a major barrier for many women is the mindset around self-defense. During the class, I even managed to break a piece of wood with one hand, demonstrating the confidence I gained. The trainers and techniques were outstanding, making this self-defense class essential for all women

We have been so pleased with our experience! We started when my daughter was 4.5 years old and I feel like it was perfect timing.

They have her focusing on listening, respectful manners, calming their body to await instruction, formal Korean martial arts etiquette, along with what I imagine is standard martial arts physical fitness and coordination.

While we could have chosen a more physically active and moving sport, I feel like this school will be a phenomenal foundation for her future no matter her choices in extra curricular activities.

Sa Bum Nim Barbara, owner and instructor, is one of the most considerate, generous and caring people I’ve ever met. Your child will be well cared for while being held to the most highest of standards here!! The assistant instructors are also incredibly patient and talented at teaching the youngsters!

Last, but not least, the school’s response to COVID-19 has been incredibly appropriate with limited students training at a distance in the school and training outside and at the park all while wearing masks.

I highly recommend Kuk Sool Won of Oak Hill. My daughter has been attending for over two years so far and it has been a wonderful experience. She has progressed from a white belt to earning her brown belt, has learned so much, and had so much fun! The owners and instructor team here are very good with helping children develop the many skills in KSW martial arts, are patient, encouraging, and hold them to an appropriate standard to help them grow. We know she is in good hands during classes and training. The school has the feeling of being a big family. We enjoy going as a team to the annual tournament and cheering each other on, that is another great part of participating in KSW.

I cannot speak highly enough of this martial arts program. My son started as a tiny tiger and has flourished into a blue stripe belt holder under their guidance.

Not only does Kuk Sool Won teach invaluable self-defense skills, but the instructors go above and beyond to instill essential values like manners, ambition, and reassurance in every student. My son adores all of his instructors and eagerly looks forward to each class. It's heartwarming to see how he always wants to give them a hug and express his gratitude at the end of every lesson.

That was some of the best 45 minutes I've spent in a while. Barbara, Brenda, Caroline and Terri are very good teachers. The free snapshot self defense session is a very good intro to the practice overall, plus every attendee left with 5 or 6 very useful tools we hopefully will never have to use. Don't turn down any chance open to you to attend at least one session. You won't regret it. p.s. I doubted I could do it but I used the technique they taught me to break a board with the palm of my hand! Very cool, right?! Total adrenaline rush! As soon as I get my picture I'll post it. I'm planning to attend Silver Dragons as soon as my schedule allows.

My 13 year old started at Kuk Sool Won of Oak Hill in the fall of '23 because they offer an Off Campus PE program approved by AISD. Not only did my kid have a great experience with doing OCPE there, but we are very happy with our whole experience. The owners are welcoming, respectful, inclusive, and genuine in their love of sharing this martial art with others.

I attended their women's self defense class that they hold a couple times a year and found it to be very helpful and accessible to all abilities.

Tim, Barbara, and the rest of the instructors are fantastic. We highly recommend you check them out if you are interested in this style of martial arts and/or OCPE.

I can't say enough good things about Kuk Sool Won of Oak Hill. My 8 year old son was interested in trying a martial art and they offered an introductory class so we decided to give it a try. Best decision ever! He attends twice a week and looks forward to every class. The owners and instructors are knowledgeable, attentive, patient, and firm. The skills he has learned in these past months have been valuable not only for martial arts but outside of classes as well. We've really enjoyed seeing his confidence and his passion for Kuk Sool grow and we have this fabulous school to thank for it.
