Came to play to give business to the course after the renovations. I always said to friends that if Davie ever fixed up its greens, they would be incredibly challenging. Well, they didn't disappoint. You'd better know how to chip and putt before playing here. They've done a fantastic job with the greens and bunkers, and I hope they get the approaches and fairways up to the same level.
Took off 1 star because pace of play was awful. Took us half an hour to play hole #1. The front nine was on pace for a 6-hour round until what looked like a fivesome (yes) stopped at #7 and let everyone through. You also have to be careful with stray balls because nobody yells fore and with the layout it's easy to slice into another teeing area or fairway. Because the tee colors are unorthodox (black gold silver bronze instead of black blue white green etc) I think people play golds underestimating the course length difficulty. With the new firm fast greens, it makes pace of play even slower as people are trying to hit and hold a green when they're not even in their scoring clubs' range.
Other things to note: There's still just a portable unit for a pro shop with only snacks. No solid food options. There are no ball washers on the course and the few garbage cans I saw were all overflowing. The practice green is still growing in and hasn't yet been mowed. I know it's out of their control but I wish the city would let them re-open the driving range. They should at least have some nets to hit into since they have the space there.
