In 2022, I was introduced to Professor Maurício through a friend, and that’s when I started attending his jiu-jitsu classes. At the time, I was struggling—overweight by more than 60 pounds, feeling depressed, and losing hope. Professor Maurício became a real source of support during this tough period. He would call me regularly to encourage me to show up to class, and during training, he was always attentive, helpful, and genuinely invested in my progress.

I highly recommend this gym. Jiu-jitsu is an incredible sport that has truly improved my life. Not only has it made me stronger and more flexible, but it’s also boosted my social interactions and given me a renewed sense of confidence. Thanks to Like Water Jiu Jitsu and Professor Maurício, I’m feeling healthier and happier.

Amazing Like Water Jiu-Jitsu Class for Kids!

My son has been attending this jiu-jitsu class for the past few months, and I couldn’t be happier with the progress he has made. The instructors are not only incredibly skilled but also patient, kind, and great with children. They focus on discipline, respect, and building confidence, which has had a noticeable positive impact on my son both in and out of the class.

The environment is supportive and encouraging, and the kids genuinely enjoy learning and practicing new techniques. I appreciate the balance of fun and hard work they instill in the students. My son looks forward to each session and is always excited to show us what he’s learned.

If you’re looking for a jiu-jitsu class that not only teaches martial arts but also life skills, this is the perfect place. I highly recommend it to anyone considering enrolling their child in a martial arts program.

I can’t say enough good things about Like Water Jiu Jitsu. For the past two weeks, I trained in the noon classes and also did privates with Professor Mauricio Antunes. My 6 year old son also trained in the kids class while we were in town.

We always make it a habit to train at different jiu jitsu academies when we travel. We have a good understanding of what makes a good jiu jitsu academy and I must say Like Water jiu jitsu is an excellent one.

-Friendly and welcoming culture. Professor Mauricio Antunes is skilled and nicest instructor there is. His students are also friendly and competitive with rolls. Even the parents are friendly and supportive. This is what you want in a jiu jitsu academy.

-The teaching style here is very good. Professor Mauricio Antunes is so knowledgeable (his competition credentials are impressive) and cares to explain things in detail to make sure you understand everything. You can see the professor and coaches teach with passion. Attention to detail is practiced here and also safety of students in mind which is a plus.

-The academy is clean and well situated with good natural lighting. I like the design color choices and the mats used here. Easy to find free parking. It reminds me of my Diamondback Jiu-Jitsu academy back home. This makes training feel comfortable and enjoyable which makes you want to return.

I can’t really say anything bad about Like Water Jiu Jitsu except that it is not in Texas! ?

My family and I will definitely continue to train at Like Water Jiu Jitsu when we are back in town to visit.

Have been coming here for around a year, I love it to death. Professor Mauricio is one of the friendliest guys I’ve ever met. The community and atmosphere of this gym is second to none. If you want to train Brazilian jiu-jitsu in LA then this is the place.

As an absolute beginner, I found such a warm community of students and teachers at Like Water Jiu Jitsu! The classes are a really great balance of basics and more challenging moves - would highly recommend to anyone interested in trying it out.
