Found this place through Groupon and it has been an incredible experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My son loved the classes. Unfortunately the only option to continue classes is through a 1 year commitment membership - no month to month option therefore we will have to find another dojo. Highly recommend for someone committed to the sport.

My 4 year old nephew has signed up for a year agreement of classes. We are becoming dissatisfied with the Thursday night class. They do warm ups, then one activity-usually with a ball or toy of some kind, very little to no karate skills and then spend the rest of the time getting lectured by Mr. Peter. Mr. Peter is more concerned with showing off to the parents in the audience than teaching the kids the karate skills. When it's time for our kiddo to test for a belt the skills have to be taught at home because nothing has been shown in class.

There does not seem to be many recent reviews, so I wanted to express my satisfaction with this Dojo. As an adult in his 30's I was looking to get fit while learning discipline and having fun. The first meeting with Arizona Family Karate Academy was full of respect and very informative. Tonight I completed my first class and while I was shy at first, I was welcomed with open arms from my Senseis and all the other students. This Dojo is full of amazing people and a perfect fit for any adult or child looking for a place where you are respected and taught actual Karate.

Our 6 year old daughter thoroughly enjoys her classes here and looks forward to going. She has learned a lot in the last year and I love how they make sure to teach safety as well as the basics for karate.

They are wonderful about making sure the students are doing their best at school as well as at home giving the parents a united front for homework and respect.

GREAT GREAT SCHOOL. Signed up my daughter when she was 5, she is 11 now. Has mastered her belts, gained friends, a lot of positive encouragement which has helped her carry herself with more motivation in school. We've signed a one year contract with them, but it's just impossible to break...unfortunately some health challenges have interrupted my daughter's attendance and we haven't had the chance to attend any Karate classes for almost three months, they don't keep track of attendance ,making up classes can be accomplished but in a short window frame. So she has been getting the short end of the stick, since no one is available to take her while I'm at home sick yet paying for the classes at the same time. It's a paper work process to put a hold on classes with given dates and putting things in writing 15 days prior ... I can't foresee when my condition will kick in...so... besides THAT everyone is fantastic and I like the fact that it's one room and one class at a time without any distractions. There is both inside and outside seating. Inside is limited, about 8 to 13 adults can be inside watching during a class and outside is more spacious with more chairs but a few people wait in their cars in the parking lot. Busy little place. You can see that the kids really enjoy the classes. Their Demo classes are fun to watch. Instructors are attentive after introducing new moves and always make extra time and makes sure everyone understands the class as a whole. Their cooling down activities at the end of class are always fun. I enjoy watching their "Ninja Dodge Ball" game. They even have classes the kids can do with their family members and friends, they have prizes and recognize students in each class, each day with stickers or a verbal awareness in front of their peers. Belt ceremonies are fun too. So don't hesitate, try them out. Ask about their introductory prices. They usually have great offers.
