10th Planet Jiu-jitsu in Austin was so nice and inviting! We drove from our local jiu-jitsu in New Caney, TX for a Women's Seminar and I'm so glad we did. My daughter had an amazing time and learned new techniques with her group. Such a fun experience!

If you’re thinking about training with 10th Planet, read this review before signing up. A good jiu jitsu partner, just like a good jiu jitsu gym, is someone who hears and feels you tap out, and then releases their choke hold. The goal of training should be one of mutual development and self-improvement. A bad jiu jitsu partner, just like a 10th Planet jiu jitsu gym, is someone who hears and feels you tap out, and then strengthens their choke hold until you get physically injured and go unconscious because they want to DOMINATE you and win… then they walk over to your gym bag and grab all the money in your wallet! This gym should be avoided by anyone who wants to train jiu jitsu in a safe and respectful environment.

I was injured while training at 10th Planet and requested my account put on hold until I recovered. After receiving 5 texts and emails saying my membership was going to renew automatically I spoke with the receptionist at the gym and asked him to cancel my account. He said he would take care of it and when I stopped receiving texts and emails saying my membership was going to renew I thought it was handled.

I later found out that my account was not cancelled, and I was charged excess membership dues totaling $1,800! I never received an email invoice or receipt of payment for any of those charges—I was previously receiving an email invoice AND email receipt of payment for every month of membership dues. I reached out to coaches directly, sent multiple emails to 10th Planet, and called every phone number I could find multiple times… crickets. When I finally got though to someone on the phone they actually told me, “My manager said we can’t give you a refund because $1,800 is a lot of money.” YEAH, I KNOW! THAT’S WHY I NEED IT BACK! IT WASN’T YOURS TO BEGIN WITH!

Any business, school or person willing to take $1,800 from a student who got injured training at their gym exposes a complete lack of integrity and respect—10th Planet’s true character behind the scenes is disgusting. I was deceived by the many fake smiles and false sense of belonging from the loaded words they used like “family”, “team”, “partners”, and so on. Beware of the cowardice lurking behind the facade of 10th Planet—when you need someone in your corner the most, they are sure to hit you while you’re down and pour salt in your wounds instead of offering help and support. I tapped out with 10 Planet, and they continued to strangle me loooong after I was injured and unconscious… don’t let it happen to you, find another gym to train jiu jitsu.

P.S. Note to 10th Planet customer service: I have all the credit card statements to prove I was charged by your gym, so don’t bother with your sleazy tactics of dismissing honest reviews from your students by claiming “we have no record of you training at our gym”. If you would like to actually resolve the issue and refund me the money that’s owed, leave your contact info as a response and I’ll reach out to discuss everything.

Fantastic class schedule and a great community to support you along the way… Gabe, Curtis, and Ben offer the best knowledge and experience if you’re wanting to get into Jiujitsu

Love this gym!! They have so many classes on jiu jitsu, wrestling, kickboxing, boxing, and mma! Instructors are top-notch. Very clean gym with a nice staff. There's a lot of gyms out there. Very few have what 10p bring to the table. The only regret I have is not joining sooner.

I'm from Dallas and have dropped in twice now. I'll keep making this a regular stop when I'm in town. The staff and students are very friendly to drop-ins from out of town. Clean gym with high level instruction.
